What Make It Make Sense Is
Make It Make Sense isn’t therapy, coaching, or traditional healing work. It is a guided session for emotional clarity available as either a one-day group workshop or a personal two-hour session with Steve and Cilla, both designed to help you do two simple things: look properly and see clearly
We’re here to help you understand what is actually going on beneath the surface and where you truly are in your life right now. While the experience feels as natural as an honest conversation with a close friend, it offers a kind of clarity that those closest to us often can’t provide. Because your friends and family care so much, they are often woven into the very experiences you’re trying to work through, which means their perspective is naturally shaped by their own hopes, fears, and opinions for you.
What you need is someone who isn’t in the picture. You need a space where you can be heard by someone without an agenda, without a stake in your decisions, and without an opinion on what your outcome should look like. These sessions draw on ancient wisdom we’ve refined over years of personal and professional work, the foundations of which are shared in our book, Rebecoming. But you don’t need to study anything or have any answers ready before we meet, as we will guide you through the process, gently, every step of the way.
All you need to bring is yourself.
Why this works
Most people don’t realise that their thoughts and feelings aren’t random, nor are they signs that something is wrong. They are actually messengers with each one carrying specific information about your needs, your experiences, and what matters most to you.
Anger tells you that a boundary important to you has been crossed
Anxiety tells you that something feels threatening, even if you can’t yet name the threat
Sadness is the voice of loss
Overwhelm is the signal that you are carrying more than any one person is meant to hold alone
Even when you feel torn, with one part of you wanting one thing and another wanting the opposite, there is a reason. It doesn’t mean you are broken; it means two different parts of you are trying to meet two different, legitimate needs at the same time. They simply haven’t been properly looked at yet.
And there is nothing wrong with feeling all of this. All that’s been missing is someone to sit down with you and help you translate what these messengers are trying to say.

What this is and isn’t
This is guided emotional clarity. It isn’t therapy and doesn’t treat mental health conditions. It isn’t coaching and isn’t about goals or self-improvement. And it isn’t the healing work itself (that’s a separate step, available through Head-to-Heart Healing if and when you’re ready).
Nothing is forced or rushed. You will leave feeling lighter with more understanding and clarity than when you arrived, and for most people, that’s exactly what they need.

Two ways to do this
Both the workshop and the personal guidance cover the same ground and lead to the same outcome. The difference is the setting, the pace, and the depth of personal attention. Whichever you choose, we will be with you throughout.
Who Steve and Cilla are
Steve Roche and Cilla Hall are the co-founders of Head, Heart & Soul and the co-authors of Rebecoming, which sets out the method this work is built on.
Steve was an original director of Kooth, the LSE-listed digital mental health provider.
Cilla brings a long background in guiding people through personal change and the emotional attunement this work depends on.
What sets them apart in this field is that they’ve walked the same ground themselves. The method is the work they’ve done on their own lives and refined over the years into what they now offer to others.

THE WORKSHOP
Come and spend a day with us in the company of like-minded people. During this guided session, both of us will be by your side to support you every step of the way. The day is designed to be honest and real, but you will never be put on the spot; you’ll simply work at your own pace alongside others who are here for the very same reasons you are.
There is a unique power in the group setting that many find unexpectedly liberating. Often, simply hearing someone else put words to a feeling you’ve been living with quietly for years brings its own profound sense of relief and release.

Practical Things Worth Knowing:
This is reflective work, and it can be quietly tiring in a way you might not expect. Eat well before you arrive. Bring a refillable water bottle and keep sipping throughout the day. Wear something comfortable and bring a notebook and pen.
The day usually leaves people feeling lighter, with a clearer sense of what’s been weighing on them. Some leave thoughtfully and quiet. Some leave with more energy than they came with. Both are normal.
In the evening, take it gently. You may find that your thoughts keep turning over what came up during the day, even after you’ve gone home. That’s the work continuing. Try not to pack the evening with too much. A walk, a quiet meal, an early night and maybe a few minutes with your notebook before you go to sleep.

THE PERSONAL SESSIONS
Come and sit with both of us for a two-hour session dedicated entirely to you. This is a chance to have a truly honest conversation in a safe, gentle space, where you are fully supported as you speak about things you may have never said out loud before.
We arrive without an agenda, bringing only our ability to truly hear what you are saying. Our role is simply to sit with you and help you see your own story more clearly than you have been able to on your own.
Why both Steve and Cilla:
Because two people working together do something one person alone can’t. One of Steve’s strengths is that he sees the patterns, such as how things connect, why you react the way you do, and what’s actually going on underneath. One of Cilla’s strengths is her ability to notice what isn’t being said. She picks up on the things you might not know you’re feeling, and her warmth helps you say them when you’re ready.

Practical Things Worth Knowing:
Since this is emotional work rather than just thinking work, it can be more tiring than you might expect. To support yourself through the process, we recommend eating well before your session and bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. Most importantly, please wear something comfortable and bring a jumper or wrap; even on a warm day, the process of releasing emotions can often leave you feeling a bit chilly.
Be gentle with yourself. You may feel physically tired while your mind stays busy processing the work you have done. This is completely normal. We recommend keeping your calendar clear for the rest of the day/evening to give yourself the time and space you need. Whether it’s a quiet walk, a long bath, or an early night, prioritise your own company. Resist the urge to talk it all through with friends or family immediately; sometimes this work needs to settle quietly inside you before it can be shared.
