Head-to-Heart Healing
Because Understanding Emotional Pain Is Not The Same As Releasing It.
If you’ve tried to think your way out of your emotional pain…
…through therapy, books, self-help, or years of analysis and the heaviness is still there, you’re not failing. You’ve simply done all the work the mind can do.
Head-to-Heart Healing is the part of the work that takes you from understanding what you’ve been carrying to actually healing it. It’s the step that most ways of working with emotional pain never reach.
What Head-to-Heart Healing Is
Take you past where understanding stops
Help you feel what you’ve been avoiding
Help you finally release
Most ways of working with emotional pain just analyse and stop at understanding. They help you find healthier ways to cope. But this is different. Our aim isn’t to help you just cope. It is to help you to finally heal and release it.
Our method has its own quiet wisdom, drawing on practices people have used to heal emotional pain for many centuries, gathered from many traditions. We’ve refined it over time through our own lives and the work we’ve done with others. You can find the heart of this work in our book, Rebecoming, but you don’t need to read it to begin. All you need to do is show up exactly as you are and let us guide you gently through the session.
Why This Works
Its important to understand that most emotional wounds form because a simple human need was unmet: the need to feel safe, loved, that you matter or that you truly belong. To cope, your inner protective system stepped in to keep you steady, creating patterns that served you then, but might be holding you back now. But these wounds don’t heal through logic alone; they live in your body and your heart, places much deeper than the mind can reach. So while your head might understand the story, it doesn’t always know how to let it go. Real release happens when we move the work down from the head and into the heart and that’s exactly why our method follows a two-step path.
The Steps
Step 1 — HEAD: Surface, name, and understand your wounds:
Before anything can be released, it has to be seen properly. Not as a vague heaviness or a general pattern, but as the specific wound, meaning, and story that formed around a painful experience and has been quietly running your life ever since. This is the recognition stage.
Step 2 — Heart: Feel and release your wounds:
Once you have seen the wound clearly you move from the mind into the heart. This is a different kind of knowing that is deeper than logic and quieter than thought. In this step you feel the buried emotions, release the old thoughts, and allow space for something new to emerge. Your mind has done its job. Now your heart completes the journey.
Whether you choose the shared energy of a group or the quiet focus of a personal session, we invite you to take this time for yourself. Come and find the peace you deserve.
What you’ll leave with:
- You’ll leave having actually felt what you’ve been avoiding. Most people spend their lives keeping difficult emotions at arm’s length, managing, suppressing, or working around them. But when you finally allow those feelings to move through you, you discover they aren’t the monsters they appeared to be.
- You’ll leave having let go of the story that kept the wound alive. As that story softens through love and wisdom, the wound transforms. The past remains the same, but your relationship with it changes completely.
- You’ll leave with something most people rarely get to feel: the sense that you aren’t just ‘managing’ anymore, but truly healing and letting go.
- You’ll leave more yourself. Beneath the wounds and the protective patterns is the person you were before the world told you who to be. As the heaviness lifts, the real you emerges. Quietly at first, and then more clearly as time goes on.
What this is and isn’t
This is guided emotional release work. It isn’t therapy and doesn’t treat mental health conditions. It isn’t counselling. It isn’t coaching, and it isn’t concerned with goals or performance. It isn’t a substitute for clinical or medical care. If that’s what you need right now, please seek that first.
What it is is the part most approaches leave out. Most ways of working with emotional pain stop at understanding. Head-to-Heart Healing begins where understanding ends.
What people say
“The process didn’t just help me understand these patterns. It gave me the tools to actually release what I’d been holding onto for decades.” — Theresa H.
“What makes their approach so powerful is that it doesn’t let you hide from yourself. The process demands complete honesty, and that’s a big reason why it works.” — Anthony Bethell
Two ways to do this
Both the workshop and the personal guidance cover the same ground and lead to the same outcome. The difference is the setting, the pace, and the depth of personal attention. Whichever you choose, we will be with you throughout.
Who Steve and Cilla are
Steve Roche and Cilla Hall are the co-founders of Head, Heart & Soul and the co-authors of Rebecoming, which sets out the method this work is built on.
Steve was an original director of Kooth, the LSE-listed digital mental health provider.
Cilla brings a long background in guiding people through personal change and the emotional attunement this work depends on.
What sets them apart in this field is that they’ve walked the same ground themselves. The method is the work they’ve done on their own lives and refined over the years into what they now offer to others.
Is this right for you?
head-to-heart healing may be right for you if:
- You have done some work on yourself through therapy, reflection, Make It Make Sense, or simply years of carrying it, and you are ready to go further than understanding
- You have been carrying something for a long time and are genuinely ready to let it go, not just understand it better
- You want to experience real release, not just coping
- You are willing to be uncomfortable in order to come home to the real you
head-to-heart-healing may not be right for you if:
- You are not yet ready to feel what has been buried, and that is alright. Make It Make Sense is the right starting point
- You are currently in a mental health crisis. While this work is deeply supportive, it isn’t a substitute for crisis care. If you are struggling right now, please reach out to a mental health professional first.
If any of the first list sounds like you, we would love to have you with us.
THE WORKSHOP
Join us for two days in a guided session where we’ll be by your side every step of the way. It’s an honest, raw, and real experience, shared with like-minded people who are here for exactly the same reason you are. You’ll find that the group setting offers a unique opportunity to share openly, an experience most find unexpectedly liberating. There is also a special kind of release that happens when you hear someone else finally name something you’ve been quietly living with for years.
Day 1 – See Emotional Wounds Clearly
Release starts with recognition. Day 1 is dedicated to looking beneath the surface of your patterns to understand their roots and why they no longer serve you. You will finish the day with the significant breakthrough of having named exactly what it is you want to heal.
Day 2 – Let Emotional Wounds Go
This is the day when the heaviness finally begins to lift. With both of us by your side, you’ll focus on healing and releasing the specific wounds you identified on Day 1. By the end of the session, you’ll feel a significant shift and a lightness that comes when something you’ve carried for a long time is finally let go.

What to Expect
These two days are intensive, but you will be fully supported throughout. We create a space safe enough for you to be truly real to feel the things you’ve avoided, say what has gone unsaid, and finally face what’s been buried. Because the group is kept small, you’ll receive personal attention that gives you the time to go genuinely deep.
Practical Things Worth Knowing
Since this is emotional work rather than just thinking work, it can be more tiring than you might expect. To support yourself through the process, we recommend eating a good breakfast and bringing a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. Most importantly, please wear something comfortable and bring a jumper or wrap; even on a warm day, the process of releasing emotions can often leave you feeling a bit chilly.
In the evenings, be gentle with yourself. You may feel physically tired while your mind stays busy processing the day’s work. This is completely normal. We recommend keeping your calendar clear for both evenings to give yourself the time and space you need. Whether it’s a quiet walk, a long bath, or an early night, prioritise your own company. Resist the urge to talk it all through with friends or family immediately; sometimes this work needs to settle quietly inside you before it can be shared.
THE PERSONAL SESSIONS
Join us for a three-hour session dedicated entirely to you. Whatever you choose to bring, we will hold it safely with you, guiding you at a pace that feels gentle and right.
Why 3 Hours?
Traditional therapy sessions often end just as you’re beginning to open up, but real release needs room to breathe. You deserve the time to truly settle in, to move past the surface story, and to reach what is waiting underneath. These three hours give you the space to move through your full process without any rush allowing you to do the deep work and still have time to come back to yourself, feeling grounded and whole, before the session ends.
What To Expect
This work is intensive. You will be challenged. You will also be held. We create a space safe enough for you to be real, to feel things you have avoided, to say things you have never said and to finally face what has been buried. Personal attention allows for genuine depth.
The Details:
- Two-to-one session with both Steve and Cilla
- All sessions are 3 hours
- 2–4 weeks between sessions
- Payment plans available

Why Both Steve and Cilla
Two people working together do something one person alone can’t.
One of Steve’s strengths is that he sees the patterns, such as how things connect, why you react the way you do, and what’s actually going on underneath.
One of Cilla’s strengths is her ability to notice what isn’t being said. She picks up on the things you might not know you’re feeling, and her warmth helps you say them when you’re ready.

The workshop or the personal sessions
Both paths lead you through the complete Head-to-Heart Healing process; the only question is which format feels right for your journey. Whichever you choose, we’ll be with you every step of the way.
- The Workshop delivers the complete process in a concentrated, two-day group experience. The energy of others doing the work alongside you offers a sense of shared honesty and mutual recognition that many people find unexpectedly powerful.
- Personal Sessions offer the same process in a private space, moving at your own pace with the focus entirely on you. If your story feels particularly layered or complex, or if you simply know that a group setting isn’t for you, this personal attention provides the right kind of support.
- The Combined Approach is a choice many people make, attending the workshop to move through the full process initially, then using personal sessions to gently integrate and continue working with whatever surfaces.
Different paths for different moments. Both are here for you when you’re ready, and we would love to walk either one with you.
